I made this fabric years ago and now I dragged it out of the stash because I'd like an opinion. Should I use this piece of sateen for a garment or a quilt?
It can't be fused since sateen frays like mad, which is why I haven't used it yet.
And for the life of me, I can't think of how I would use it in a pieced quilt. Any ideas?
The neckline is
slanted, which I don't like so I am planning on altering the pattern, and making a new facing for the fixed neckline. What I do
like about this pattern (sans belt and chest pockets) is that it would look good in mixed fabrics. O, and I will not do that curved hem either. Straight across with a good deep slit at each side.
So here is the inspiration piece. And then my thumbnail which is what I worked off of.
I had lots of nice scraps all ready to use and it was quick and so fun, but then I had to fill in the background and that's where it went wrong.
I also think that the shapes need to be taller. The original had layers too, which I just didn't want to do in my piece. Perhaps I need to narrow the color choices too. I'll try again today. Couldn't leave out the dots.
The new work on the right has sold today.
I bought these Ribba shelves from Ikea in Illinois before we moved to TN and never got them hung until today. I am thrilled to have someplace to put the new stuff and get it off the cluttered up surfaces of work tables. And I can photograph three pieces at once for future work. Yay! These shelves
